Titan Missile Silo 1994 © A. T. Willett
Huge lightning bolt strikes within one half mile of camera just East of Marana, Arizona. Photographed at an abandoned Titan II Missile Silo on a Hasselblad Medium Format Camera using Fuji Velvia Film. This image was used by the Royal Mail Society (United Kingdoms postal service) as a Postage Stamp in 2000, it was part of the Millennium series called “Fire And Light”. I did not know about the sale until a stamp collector contacted me asking if I could sign one of the first day issue covers. He mailed me a package using my own stamp from the UK, I think it was the first stamp to use a photograph of lightning as well.
